Black History Month

Historic Rosedale’s history is filled with strong and interesting African American individuals. Our 200 year old Federal home is rich in tales of enslaved blacksmiths and cooks; Gullah caretakers and war vetrans. To celebrate Black History Month, we’ll take a look at a variety of those African Americans who left an indelible mark on Historic Rosedale. Our regular house tours will spotlight information on individuals like Jefferson Caldwell who was born at Rosedale in 1838 and later was willed a 48.5-acre tract of Rosedale property that he managed, along with his wife Margaret, until his death in 1925.  House tours are availablbe Thursday – Sunday at 1:30 and 3:00.
