the early 1800's.
Hands on activities and role playing allow
today's children to explore medicine, education and daily chores
of Ante-bellum Mecklenburg County. Children are invited to join
in the lessons being taught by the Caldwell's tutor, and receive
instruction in mental math, exploration of the western
territory, Presidents of the United States, plus manners and
deportment. Tours last approximately 1 1/2 hours. Group
reservations required. Designed for children 8 and up. $4.00 per child.

inhabited the Caldwell Plantation of the early 1800's.
The 1 1/2 hour
tour by costumed docents tell the story of Ben, the carriage
driver, Jenny, the cook, Cherry, the children's nurse, and Nat
the blacksmith of the plantation and provides insight into the
lives of those whose voices are seldom heard.
